Boynton Beach Mural Project....

A year ago we set out to get this wall, the city of Boynton Beach wanted a mural in the Sarah Sims Public Park for there Art in Public Places program. After being on the backburner for a year, the city finally gave the go ahead with this unique project. It brought in the communities at risk youths to be a part of the process. In the end, the youths did not paint on the wall because the skill level was not quite up to par YET, but they often gave their two-cents on what might look dope. I ended up coming up with a sketch including 4 different genres of African American inspired music, it is something to relate to and be inspired by for the surrounding community. I came up with the sketch by integrating parts from my paintings, and found imagery of musical artists together.

A big thanks to Venom-LMA, for originally bringing me in on this project from the get go. and of course, the city of Boynton Beach for the opportunity.

Guest artists: Jermaine Johnson, Chan Shepard

Jermaine is a local artist who grew up on the same block as the wall, he passed by it one day while we were working and wanted to know if he could participate, I told him yes if he could come back with some examples of work. The dude came back with a full airbrushed sketch of a DJ, to replace the one i was gong to paint. So i gave him the go ahead. He ended up painting the DJ in the middle of the wall, using Cans and brush. This was one of the dopest parts of the project, cause it brought in someone from the community.

I never met a Black that wanted to be called an "African American"

I'm just being funny,
Dope wall, dope project,
this is beyond graffiti.

I can just imagine them restoring this wall 20-30 years from now, the hard task they will have trying to properly restore it.

Great Pic for the portfolio.

Dang what a touching story.. lol

but seriously its nice to see the community involved. and at least giving the youth a chance to get involved. im really glad some great artists got involved, even outside of the graff world... just remember that this wall will inspire those kids to get even better.

and will add a nice cultural addition to the city.
